Our family is doing what we love: raising Labrador Retriever puppies with excellent genetics, clean health, and gentle, intelligent temperaments. The goal at Grand River Labradors is to breed beautiful dogs that are correct to the “English” type. Often referred to as a bench or show dog, they are stockier, broad headed with a wide chest, and possess the beloved Labrador temperament that defines the breed. With a very personal and intentional approach to breeding, our commitment to these standards makes a Grand River Labrador puppy a complete joy to add to your home!

While we are partial to cream and fox red Labradors, please note that these are both the lightest and the darkest shade of yellow according to the AKC recognized breed standard colors of black, chocolate and yellow

. Grand River Labradors are dilute-free.

Intelligence

Because we’re passionate about raising emotionally intelligent Labradors, our puppies are raised in our home with the whole family involved. Using age appropriate Early Neurological Stimulation and guided by Puppy Culture protocol, we do our best to maximize your puppy’s potential to be a calm and well adjusted companion. In conjunction with family life, we partner with our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to lay a strong foundation in socialization, obedience, recall, potty training and crate training.

Additionally, your puppy will receive chiropractic care within the first week of life, and again before leaving our home. Removing interference to the central nervous system is a priority for the neurologic and psychologic health of your new family member. Providing this unique approach to healthcare is one of the most important things we incorporate for our puppies.

I highly researched reputable lab breeders as purchasing a puppy that was bred with ethics, responsibility and for the purpose to further the breed was very important to me. It was also important for our future family member to have been socialized in a family home and had more of a holistic approach taken to its birth and first 8 weeks. We found all that and more with Grand River! I flew from Atlanta to pick up our beautiful boy and to say he is amazing is an understatement! He is smart, calm and very loving. He's been super easy to train and we constantly get compliments on how beautiful he is and what lovely confirmation he has. You can't go wrong with this breeder if you are in the market for a Lab!

Kathy puts a lot of love and care into her pups, both for their physical and emotional wellbeing. It has been clear from the beginning that Kathy put a lot of effort into preparing the puppies for their new homes. Ari slept easily through the night right away, no crying or whining, and had to be woken for middle of the night potty breaks. Crate training and potty training has been super easy. And she isn’t the least bit frightened by fireworks, loud thunderstorms, or the vacuum. She’s eager to train and learns quickly. And she loves everyone she’s ever met. Just an all around wonderful girl.
